biography

Since leaving University in 1986 with a degree in illustration, Barry Patterson has spent his working life drawing. He initially spent many years working as an illustrator in design studios around London, and as such has developed a wide and diverse range of illustrative skills, extending from traditional paintings to entirely digital work and photography.

Barry is an established oil pastel illustrator and also produces paintings for sale and images for limited edition print. Links to two websites showing this work can be found at the bottom of this page.

This website, however, concentrates on the digital work Barry produces, which is largely in the field of packaging. His client list covers many well known brands, such as Ribena, Lucozade, Marks and Spencer, Walkers, Ryvita and New Covent Garden Food Co. Some of this work, such as for Covent Garden Soups shows a crossover between his digital work and his oil pastel work, whereas other pieces, such as for Ryvita and Altu Health Bars incorporate the use of digital photography and image manipulation.

Barry is able to produce work ranging from loose and free to very exacting photo-realistic imagery, incorporating all stages in between.
